PORTAGE, IND. — Portage Township Schools is proud to announce that we have earned Level 1 certification in Marzano High Reliability Schools™.
Level 1 certification means our school staff have built a “Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture.” This kind of positive environment is the foundation for all the next steps in helping students succeed. It also means that everyday school operations are working well and being checked.
The High Reliability Schools (HRS) program was created by Marzano Resources to help schools improve and make sure all students succeed. Using research-based steps and important data, schools learn how to measure and improve how well they are doing.
The program is based on 50 years of education research by Dr. Robert J. Marzano. It has five levels that schools work through to become a High Reliability School, where all students learn what they need to succeed in college, careers, and life.
“As schools move through these levels, it shows a complete change in how schools are run,” said Dr. Marzano, CEO of Marzano Resources.
Schools collect data and prove their progress to reach each level. Certification is given by Marzano Resources analysts working with school data teams.
Portage Township Schools Superintendent Dr. Amanda Alaniz said this certification honors staff for their hard work in creating a safe and welcoming school culture.
“Making sure students feel safe and supported is the base for learning,” Dr. Alaniz said. “This Level 1 HRS Certification celebrates our staff’s dedication to creating the best learning environment.”
Using the HRS system and data, schools can bring together many efforts into one smooth plan that helps improve student learning over time.
